About the Straker Series

What would happen if a man with no memory of his past discovered that he possessed abilities far beyond those of ordinary human beings?

That's where the Straker Series begins.

Found naked and unconscious in a Louisiana swamp by two rather unconventional Cajun brothers, a man who eventually takes the name Fenwick Straker begins rebuilding a life he cannot remember.

But Straker is no ordinary man.

His extraordinary intelligence, remarkable reflexes, and seemingly limitless curiosity lead him from financial success into maritime adventures, advanced technology, international intrigue, and eventually the creation of something far greater than a business.

Along the way, Straker encounters dangerous enemies, unexpected friendships, mysterious discoveries, and challenges that even his remarkable abilities cannot always overcome.

The Straker Series combines science fiction, maritime adventure, mystery, humor, and the extraordinary possibilities of human ingenuity.

And the adventure is only beginning.

Glen Riensche has been imagining extraordinary adventures for most of his life.

His fascination with science fiction began in high school, when he wrote a short story called Then There Was One, about four astronauts on a mission to Mars. One by one, the astronauts died until only one remained. Facing the certainty of his own death, the last astronaut entered a cave, where a mysterious presence spoke four words:

"Always there is one."

That early story planted the seeds of ideas that would continue developing for decades.

The Straker Series brings together Glen's interests in science, technology, human behavior, maritime adventure, and the possibilities of civilizations yet to come.

His stories explore not only what extraordinary technology might make possible, but also what happens when imperfect human beings gain access to extraordinary power.

And, because even the most serious adventures benefit from a little laughter, humor is never far away.

The Straker Series begins with Echoes Before Horizon and continues with First Horizon, followed by an expanding collection of adventures.

From the swamps of Louisiana to the waters of the Caribbean and ultimately far beyond, Fenwick Straker's journey is one of discovery, danger, friendship, and the determination to build something that matters.
